What time is it?

March 25, 2011

I enjoy making customised jewellery for clients.  I love the challenge of interpreting  my client’s ideas and wishes and translating in into beautiful jewellery. Recently i had a custom request to make a watch for a client’s wedding.

She wanted a square watch face( in an ideal world she wanted it diamond encrusted!) and had to go with her white wedding dress. Having never made a beaded watch before, i was very excited about the prospect of making one.

I found a watch face encrusted with Swarovski crystals which was sparkly as requested without the hefty price tag of diamonds.

For the strap i choose rock crystals. Rock crystal is a clear and transparent semi-precious stone, belonging to the quartz family.  These also reminded me of diamonds and went nicely with the watch face. For that extra sparkle I added some Swarovski crystal beads to the watch strap.

Initially I struggled with getting the strap right, but after a few tried, I got the hang of it. Here’s the finished product:

Bridal watch exclusively designed by The Colour Couture

Exclusively designed by The Colour Couture

As with all our jewellery, the watch was packaged in our luxury jewellery boxes and delivered to the bride during her bridal shower. She absolutely loved it!! It was exactly what she wanted and she was thrilled about the fact that this design is unique and no one has the same watch.

A watch is something you are bound to use every day and a customised watch is a brilliant way to express your personality. Pleased with the result of the bridal watch I made a watch for myself the next day which was promptly bought by a friend!  I just received another custom order from a client. I will post pictures of the finished product in a future post.
